So, a week or two ago, I was reading over at Sprudge.com and heard about a “latte art contest” that Salon.com was having.  All you had to do was snap a few pictures of your art and send it in with a bit more information.  I had a few minutes and decided to send some in.  I got an email today asking for my address and came across this online!

This was all just for fun but cool non the less! But at least OK City got on the map! If you want to read more about the art contest or see the rest of the entries, you can CLICK HERE and see the rest.  I’m a traditionalist (as described by Salon.com) when it comes to latte art - clean and simple.

Here was the intro to the contest winners post:

In the world of latte art, there are two main camps: Team Free Pour and the Etchers. Free pourers are the traditionalists: They make their designs by pouring heated, “stretched” milk into espresso, creating beautiful designs where the milk and coffee don’t quite want to dissolve into one another. It’s a test of how well they’ve aerated and textured the milk, and, of course, of how well they understand the motions and physics of the pour. Etchers, though, are the tool users: They will draw into the milk, dragging coffee into the dense foam, and boom! You have patterns, designs and the occasional portrait of Stockard Channing.

It was cool to be in a contest that was just for fun and consisted of both etchers and free pourers.  Thanks to Salon.com for voting my tulip as a winner!

Cheers -
